January 20, 2025
As we begin this new year, it is a time for reflection, renewal, and looking forward to the bright future that lies ahead for our community. Ahavath Achim has always been a place of deep spiritual connection, tradition, and support, and as your president, I am honored to serve and work alongside all of you in continuing to strengthen and expand our sacred community. This past year has brought both challenges and blessings. We’ve faced the uncertainties that come with change, yet we have remained united through our shared values and commitment to preserving our rich Sephardic heritage. Our congregation has been a beacon of Jewish life in Portland, offering a space for prayer, learning, and connection, and I am proud to see the resilience and dedication that defines us. In 2025, we are committed to continuing to build upon the foundation of our past while embracing the opportunities that lie before us. We will deepen our communal offerings, enhance our cultural programs, and ensure that our religious services are meaningful and accessible to all. It is essential that we not only pass on our traditions to the next generation but also remain a welcoming and inclusive community for all who seek to be part of our journey. I encourage you to stay engaged and involved. Attend our Shabbat services and join us for community events such as the always sold out first Friday of the month Shabbat dinners. Each of us has a unique and important role to play in shaping the future of this congregation, and together, we can create a vibrant, thriving space for generations to come. Thank you for your continued support and dedication. I look forward to a year filled with growth, unity, and joy, and I am excited to see what we can accomplish together in 2025. Wishing you and your loved ones a year of peace, health, and blessing. Warm regards, Mark Berkovitch President, Ahavath Achim View our constitution and by-laws |
